Former Newark & District Air Cadets representing the squadron since its formation in the 1940's met with today's cadets at Newark RAFA Club on 7th May 2016.
During the meeting the DVD which current cadets have produced telling the story of 1260 squadron from 1941 to the current day was shown. Copies of the DVD and accompanying book were available for everyone to take away.
1260 squadron chairman Dave Holmes said "This project to research, record and present the history of the squadron has really brought people together, not only former cadets who have rekindled many friendships but also bringing together current and former cadets who compare notes on how the squadron was and how it is today".
During the meeting the squadron was gifted with the Jack Oliver Trophy which will be presented annually to the cadet excelling at airmanship. Jack, who was a cadet on the squadron's first parade night in March 1941, has maintained contact with 1260 squadron and he is still a member of the civilian committee. Jack complted 22 years service with the RAF as a pilot during the 2nd World War and the Korean war. He was first pilot on Sunderland flying boats.
