75 and going strong

1260 Squadron Newark & District Air Cadets celebrated double achievement with a gala dinner at Kelham Hall.

The Air Cadet organisation was established by Royal Warrant on the 5th February 1941 and, 75 years to the date, 1260 Squadron celebrated with a dinner at Kelham Hall. The evening was attended by current and former Cadets and staff as well invited guests including the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire.

During the evening the 1260 Squadron heritage DVD and book were launched. Current Air Cadets, with support from civilian committee members, have been researching the history of 1260 squadron. This has included interviewing many former Cadets and cataloguing photographs.

Support for the project and dinner came from the Heritage Lottery Youth Fund, Newark Youth Trust, Newark Masons and Nottinghamshire County Councillor Stuart Wallace.
