1260 Squadron Newark and District Air Cadets have welcomed 15 new recruits at a graduation evening attended by family and friends at Newark RAFA Club. 

The young people started attending Newark & District Air Cadets in September 2018 and have undertaken a structured induction covering everything from the principles of flight and first aid through to learning how to look after their uniform and mastering their drill skills. 

Having now graduated they are able to take part in all activities and will soon be flying from RAF Cranwell, participating in week long camps starting at Easter and getting involved in sport, fieldcraft and civic events as well as taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme. 

Commanding Officer, Flying Officer Kate Hearn said “I started as an Air Cadet and am delighted to now have the honour of leading this group and I want to see more young people have the same opportunities for travel, adventure and making friends for life that I had”.
